Wij zijn (KLTZT b.d) Jouke Spoelstra en (LTZ2OC b.d) Stef van der Velden, beiden zijn wij ex-onderzeebootmannen en zijn samen meer dan 45 jaar werkzaam geweest binnen de Nederlandse onderzeedienst en haar boten. We hebben daarmee een uitgebreide kennis van het opereren met onderzeeboten, ook in de jaren van de koude oorlog, wat qua dreiging en techniek nog goed vergelijkbaar is met de oorlogsjaren.
We zijn de projectleiders binnen de Werkgroep Onderzeeboten. Hierin zijn vertegenwoordigd: de Koninklijke Marine (Onderzeedienst), Stichting Nabestaanden Onderzeeboten’40-’45, de International Submariners Association (Nederland) alsmede diverse relevante departementen binnen de KM, waaronder de Dienst der Hydrografie, Bureau Communicatie en het NIMH (Nederlands Instituut voor Militaire Historie)
Verder werken wij nauw samen met:
- Mijnendienst
- Marinemuseum
- Rijksdienst Cultureel Erfgoed
- Rijkswaterstaat
- Nationale visserij
- Offshore Survey
- Sportduik organisaties
- Vliegtuigbergingsofficier Koninklijke Luchtmacht
- Nationale en internationale researchers op het gebied van oorlogswrakken en oorlogsgeschiedenis
Om de O13 terug te vinden worden twee sporen bewandeld:
- In archieven en allerhande andere bronnen wordt gespeurd naar aanknopingspunten betreffende de laatste reis van de O13.
- Op zee worden alle onderzeebootachtige wrakken welke in de loop der jaren zijn aangetroffen onderzocht en waar mogelijk geïdentificeerd, om hiermee het net te kunnen sluiten en daarnaast ook ervaring op te bouwen in het ontwikkelen van onderzoeksmethodes. De onderzochte locaties worden bijgehouden.
